Editorial policy

This page sets out how we research, write and correct what you read on easymower.

Independence

Our recommendations are ours. No manufacturer or retailer can pay to be included, to be ranked higher, to be picked in a "best" list or to change what we write. We don't accept payment for coverage, and we don't let brands approve our pages before publication. If we ever receive a product on loan or as a sample, the page will say so.

Retailer links are plain direct links today. If we join affiliate programmes later, commissions will never affect which mowers we recommend or how we score them. See links and affiliates.

No hands-on testing yet

We haven't tested the mowers on this site hands-on. Every page is based on desk research, and every page carries a "not tested" marker. We never write as if we've used a product. When we start testing, pages that include it will say so clearly and describe what was measured.

Where facts come from

• Specifications come from manufacturer sources: UK spec sheets, manuals, declarations of conformity, warranty terms and official product pages. Every value is stored with the source it came from. Where sources disagree, we say so.
• Prices come from UK retailers and manufacturer stores, as described in how we get prices.
• General facts, such as electricity prices or wildlife advice, link to an authoritative source.
• Buyer questions are based on what people commonly ask in forums and search. We write the questions and answers ourselves and never copy other people's words.

If a manufacturer doesn't publish a figure, we say it isn't published rather than guess.

How software is used

Software collects prices, watches manufacturer catalogues for new models and helps with research, for example by suggesting specification values from a manufacturer's document. Nothing it proposes is published automatically: an editor checks each specification against its source before approval. Scores that are calculated follow the published scoring method.

How picks are made

"Best" lists and verdicts start from a clear definition of who the pick is for, such as lawns over 1,500 m² or slopes steeper than 35%. We shortlist models that meet it on paper, compare specifications, documentation, warranty terms and price, and explain each pick's trade-offs and who should avoid it. Picks change when prices, models or documentation change.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it. Report errors through the contact page. Minor fixes, such as typos, are made without comment. When a correction changes a fact, a verdict or a recommendation, we update the page date and add a note saying what changed.
