How we get prices

The prices on easymower come from software that visits manufacturer stores and UK retailers, reads the product page and records the price and stock status. People approve every product page before its prices are used, and review anything that looks wrong.

Some big retailers, including Currys, Argos and Amazon, block automated checks or don't allow them in their terms. We don't try to get around that. Where we know they sell a model, we link to them without a price so you can check yourself.

How we collect prices

• We identify ourselves. Our software announces itself as easymower-bot, with a link to this page, so any retailer can see who we are.
• We follow robots.txt. If a site's robots.txt asks automated visitors not to read a page, we don't.
• We go slowly. We leave at least 10 seconds between requests to the same website, longer if the site asks for it, and make only one request to a site at a time.
• No evasion. If a site blocks us, we stop. We don't disguise our software, rotate addresses or use other tricks.

How often prices are refreshed

Manufacturer stores and dealers for the most popular models are checked about every 6 hours, and about every 2 hours in peak season (spring and early summer, and Black Friday week). Other retailers are checked daily, and discontinued models and accessories less often. Each price shows when it was last checked.

What the prices include

Prices are shown as the retailer lists them for UK consumers, which includes VAT. Delivery charges and optional extras aren't added. Where a model comes in several versions, each price belongs to the specific version named.

Checks before a price appears

• A new price more than 40% away from the typical price for that model is held for a person to check before it appears.
• A change of more than 25% since our last check is also held for review.
• If we can’t refresh a price, it’s flagged after two missed checks and removed from the site after 48 hours.
• Prices checked by hand by our team are shown for 24 hours, with the time of the check.

We also re-check on every visit that the retailer's page is still for the same product, and pause it if the retailer has changed it.

Deals

We only call something a deal when it's measured against that retailer's own recent prices, not an RRP or a crossed-out "was" price:

• The price is at least 7% below that retailer’s median price over the last 30 days, or
• it is the lowest price we’ve seen at that retailer in 90 days.
• We need at least 14 days of price history before we call anything a deal.

Report a wrong price

Prices change quickly, and retailers sometimes change a page between our checks. If a price here doesn't match what you see on the retailer's site, tell us with the model and retailer. We check reports by hand and fix or remove the price.
