Lymow robot mowers

No. Lymow says parts for the Lymow One and the newer Lymow One Plus aren't interchangeable, even though both have the same battery capacity and a similar tracked design.

Lymow's UK store still lists spares specifically for the One: a replacement LiFePO4 battery, a rotary blade set and a swing blade set, each with two blades. The 4G service plans are sold for both models. Buy parts named for the One, not the One Plus. The One's warranty was 2 years as standard, or 3 years for pre-orders and UK in-stock orders, excluding tracks and blades, and it only applies in the country of purchase. As the model is discontinued, it's sensible to keep a spare set of blades in hand in case supply dries up.

Louder than most. Lymow quoted 68 dB(A) for the Lymow One, marked as a lab figure. Many garden robot mowers are quoted somewhere in the mid-50s to low-60s dB(A). For example, TerraMow quotes 54 dB(A) for the TerraMow V Series (V600 / V1000), and Sunseeker quotes 60 dB(A) for the Sunseeker X7.

Decibels are logarithmic, so a difference of around 10 dB is generally perceived as roughly twice as loud. That makes the gap between the Lymow One and the quieter robot mowers noticeable, especially in a quiet street.

Lymow doesn't explain the figure, but the design is quite different from most robot mowers. The One uses rotary mulching blades across a 400 mm deck, and runs on tracks, rather than the small pivoting razor blades most robot mowers use. Larger rotary blades generally make more noise than small razor blades. Manufacturers don't all measure noise the same way, so treat any comparison as a rough guide.

In practice, keep the schedule to daytime hours. That's considerate to neighbours and also avoids night-time running, which the British Hedgehog Preservation Society advises against. Lymow hasn't published a noise figure for the newer Lymow One Plus, so we can't say whether it's any quieter. See our hedgehogs guide for scheduling advice.

Only the charger. The Lymow One Plus is the same mower in both versions; the 5A and 10A refer to the charging station adapter. Lymow says the 10A adapter takes the battery from 10% to 90% in about 90 minutes, against about 150 minutes with the 5A.

Faster charging means more mowing time in a day, which is why Lymow quotes 1.1 acres a day for the 5A and 1.73 acres for the 10A. Those are daily theoretical maximums, not recommended lawn sizes, so don't compare them directly with the area ratings other brands give. The 10A makes most sense if your plot is large or you want it finished quickly; for a smaller area the 5A does the same work more slowly. The two sell for £2,799–£2,999, and Lymow also sells both adapters separately.

It's designed with rougher ground in mind more than most robot mowers, but Lymow doesn't say how long grass can be before it struggles. The Lymow One Plus uses 2 rotary mulching blades across a 406 mm deck, rather than the small pivoting razor blades on a disc that most robot mowers use. Lymow quotes a blade speed of 3,000 to 6,000 rpm and offers alternative blade types, including swing blades, as options.

The height range is also generous, from 30 mm up to 102 mm, which lets you keep a longer, meadow-style finish. It runs on tracks, is rated for 100% slopes, and can climb obstacles up to 71 mm according to Lymow's lab figure.

Like any robot mower, it works best on grass it keeps short with frequent runs. If a paddock has become overgrown, cut it down first with a conventional mower or brush cutter, then set the robot's height and let it maintain it. Rough fields bring other hazards: stones, molehills and fallen branches can damage blades, and Lymow's warranty excludes blades and tracks. Remember too that the mower depends on RTK positioning; Lymow says it can cover only about 100 to 150 m² without a fix, so a paddock surrounded by tall trees may be a problem. Lymow is a young company: its own About page gives 2022 as the founding year, and its UK warranty page gives the company as Lymow Tech, with an address in Dallas, Texas, in the USA. Some press coverage describes the company as Chinese, but we haven't seen a Lymow page that says so.

Its first mower, the Lymow One, was crowdfunded in 2024 and has since been replaced by the Lymow One Plus, which is sold through Lymow's own UK store in pounds. There's no UK dealer network. Support runs through a customer-service email address and an online help centre, and the warranty only applies in the country of purchase. The Lymow brand page has more on the range.
