STIGA in the UK

STIGA dates back to 1934 in Sweden and is now run from Italy. It has sold lawn mowers for decades, and in the UK its robot range is now entirely wire-free: no current model uses a perimeter wire. Instead, STIGA uses satellite RTK positioning, where a correction signal gives the mower centimetre-level accuracy, and routes everything through its own cloud over a built-in 4G connection.

That design has one consequence buyers need to understand before anything else: STIGA says its robots can't start mowing without that cloud link. Good mobile coverage across the lawn is a requirement, not a nice-to-have. Our network RTK and 4G guide explains how to check your signal.

The range explained

There are two generations on sale, each split into a small-platform and a large-platform family.

First-generation A-series. These use an RTK reference station that comes in the box and sits in the garden. The small models (A 4 to A 1500) cut 180 mm; the large A 5000 and A 10000 cut 260 mm with six blades. There's no camera, so obstacles are found by contact sensors. The A 750 and above can swap the station for STIGA's network correction service.

The v range (2026). The "v" models drop the reference station and take corrections from STIGA's network over 4G, so there's nothing to mount in the garden. They add an AI camera that STIGA says recognises grass and obstacles, though positioning still comes from satellites. The small v models (A 6v to A 25v) share an 18 cm deck; the large ones (A 50v to A 140v) use the wider 26 cm deck. Ten years of connectivity is included. The A 15v was listed as "available soon" at the end of September 2026.

Across both generations, cutting height is set in the app and a rain sensor is fitted. Slope ratings are 45% on the small platforms and 50% on the large ones, measured inside the lawn. STIGA's manuals limit slopes along the perimeter to 20%, so a steep bank at the lawn edge is a bigger problem than one in the middle.

Which STIGA should I buy?

Start with lawn size, remembering that STIGA's ratings are maximums. Then decide whether you want a station in the garden.

• Small to mid-sized lawns (roughly 400–2,000 m²): the STIGA A v range (A 6v to A 25v) is the one most buyers should look at first. No station, a camera for obstacles, ten years of data and a 3 years warranty. Prices start from £999.
• If you want a longer warranty and don't mind a station: the STIGA A-series (A 4 to A 1500) A 750, A 1000 and A 1500 can reach five years' cover with registration and annual dealer servicing. Avoid the A 4 and A 8 unless the price gap is large, because they need a paid data pack once the included period ends.
• Large, open grounds (roughly 3,500 m² and up): the STIGA A v range large (A 50v to A 140v) covers up to 14,000 m² with no station, but STIGA's manual gives it a louder 63 dB(A). The first-generation STIGA A-series large (A 5000 and A 10000) is quieter on paper and qualifies for the five-year warranty, but has no camera.

Not for you if: your mobile signal is poor, or your lawn is enclosed by tall trees and buildings. Satellite positioning struggles under heavy cover, and without 4G these mowers won't run at all. A LiDAR or vision mower, or a wired one, is a safer choice there; see RTK vs vision vs LiDAR.

Tech and app

Everything runs through the STIGA.GO app: mapping, schedules, zones, no-go areas and cutting height. Zone limits range from 2 on the A 4 to 30 on the large v models. STIGA lists Alexa support. The app locks the mower to your account and shows its GPS location; STIGA lists a theft alarm on the A 1000, A 1500 and all the large models, while on the small v range the audible theft alert is a paid add-on in the app.

The ongoing costs deserve a close look. After the included period, STIGA's annual connectivity packs are priced in euros only, and because the mower needs the connection to work, they aren't optional. On the v range that point is ten years away; on the A 4 and A 8 it comes after two years, or three if you register.

UK warranty, support and where to buy

STIGA sells direct through its UK web shop, which includes dealer installation, and through a UK dealer network. The standard domestic warranty is two years. The v range pages state three years included (the A 140v page doesn't give a period), the A 4 and A 8 get a third year with registration, and the other first-generation models can reach five years if you register and have the mower serviced by an authorised dealer every year.
