Which version do you need?
All five share the same body and 18 cm deck. The A 4 (400 m², 2 zones) and A 8 (800 m², 4 zones) are cheapest, but include only two years of data (three with registration), then need a paid annual pack to keep mowing, and must use the supplied station. The A 750 (900 m²), A 1000 (1,400 m²) and A 1500 (2,500 m², double battery) have lifetime connectivity, can use Stiga's Antenna FREE service instead of the station, and qualify for up to five years' warranty. Stiga's areas are maximums (it recommends 1,500 m² for the A 1500), so size up. For small lawns, also compare the A 6v and A 8v, which include ten years of data.
How it navigates and sets up
The first-generation A-series is wire-free. It uses satellite RTK positioning, with corrections from a reference station supplied in the box and relayed through Stiga's cloud over the mower's built-in 4G. Stiga adds what it calls AGS, a system for predicting satellite signal quality. You map the lawn and zones in the STIGA.GO app. Stiga offers free dealer installation with web-shop purchases, but you can set it up yourself.
The mower needs its 4G connection to work. Stiga says it can't start mowing without the cloud link, so check your mobile signal where the lawn is. On the A 750, A 1000 and A 1500 you can skip the station and use Stiga's Antenna FREE network corrections; the A 4 and A 8 must use the station. Cutting
All five models cut 180 mm with four pivoting razor blades on a disc. Height is set electronically, from the app, between 20 mm and 60 mm. Slopes up to 45% are allowed inside the lawn (20% along the edge). Stiga quotes a guaranteed 59 dB(A). A rain sensor is fitted.
App, connectivity and security
STIGA.GO handles mapping, schedules, zones (2–10 depending on model), no-go areas and Alexa linking. The app locks the mower to your account and shows its GPS location. Stiga lists a theft alarm on the A 1000 and A 1500 but not the A 750. On the A 4 and A 8, connectivity is included for 24 months (plus a year if registered within 30 days), then you pay each year to keep the mower running.
Running costs, warranty and support
Standard warranty is 2 years. The A 4 and A 8 get an extra year with registration; the others can reach five years with registration and annual servicing by an authorised dealer, which costs money each year. Will a Stiga A 4 or A 8 stop working if I don't pay for data?
Yes. Stiga says its robots can't start mowing without their 4G connection. The A 4 and A 8 include two years of data (three if registered within 30 days), then need a paid annual pack, priced by Stiga in euros only: EUR 19.90 (A 4) or EUR 29.90 (A 8).
Do the A 750, A 1000 and A 1500 need a subscription?
Stiga describes their connectivity as lifetime. If you activate the Antenna FREE network service instead of the reference station, Stiga says it's free for ten years and then a small annual fee, priced in euros.
What warranty do Stiga A-series mowers have?
Two years as standard. The A 4 and A 8 get an extra year with registration. The A 750, A 1000 and A 1500 can reach five years if registered and serviced every year by an authorised Stiga dealer.
