Every link to a retailer on easymower is a direct link. We don't currently earn anything when you click one or buy something.

The links pass through a short redirect on our own site, with an address starting /go/. When you click, we record that the click happened and then send you straight to the retailer's page. We record:

  • which product and retailer the link was for;
  • which of our pages it was on, and where on the page;
  • the type of device (mobile, tablet or desktop);
  • the website that referred you, and the country, where your connection provides it.

We don't store your IP address. To count repeat clicks sensibly, we keep a scrambled code (a hash) made from your connection details and a secret that changes every day. It can't be turned back into your IP address, and codes from different days can't be linked. Clicks from search engine crawlers and other automated tools aren't counted. We use these counts to see which retailers and pages are useful to readers, and to show retailers how many visitors we send them.

What will change with affiliate programmes

We expect to join affiliate programmes with some retailers. Under those, a retailer pays us a small commission if you buy after clicking a link. You pay the same price either way.

When a retailer's links become affiliate links:

  • the /go/ link will send you via the affiliate network's tracking address, which may set that network's own cookies;
  • those links will be marked with rel="sponsored", the standard way to tell search engines a link is commercial;
  • every page with affiliate links will carry a clear disclosure near the top;
  • this page will list which retailers we have affiliate arrangements with.

What won't change

Commissions will not affect which mowers we recommend, how we score them, or which retailer we show first. Price lists will keep the same order whatever the commercial arrangement (in-stock offers first, then cheapest first), and retailers we can't earn from will still be shown. Our editorial policy applies to every page.
