The best robot lawn mowers under £1,000

How we chose

£1,000 is a psychological line for many buyers, and it's also where the market changes. Below it, you'll find budget wired mowers and simple camera models; around it, the first properly mapped wire-free mowers from Ecovacs, Dreame, Segway Navimow and Husqvarna appear. We only included families with at least one current UK version whose manufacturer RRP or brand-store price was under £1,000 when we checked, and we used that version for the pick.

From there we weighed:

• Navigation against UK gardens. LiDAR and camera models suit lawns with trees and buildings; RTK and network RTK suit open ones. We picked a spread so there's an option for most layouts. Our navigation guide explains the differences.
• Rated area and slope, with a margin for manufacturers' best-case figures.
• Warranty length and conditions, including registration and servicing requirements.
• What's missing: 4G, app-set height, edge cutting and obstacle detection vary a lot at this price.
• Availability. Several of the best-specified models were sold out at the end of the 2026 season. We still include them where they're current, but say so.

We haven't used any of these mowers. The table below lists every current family we track with a version priced under £1,000, cheapest first. Prices change, so the figures update from UK retailers where we have them.

Best under £1,000: Ecovacs GOAT O1200 LiDAR PRO

The Ecovacs GOAT O1200 LiDAR PRO is also our pick for wire-free under £1,000 across the site, and on paper it's the most complete package in the bracket. A rotating LiDAR unit maps the garden's fixed features, so there's no wire and no RTK station to site, and it doesn't need a clear view of the sky. An AI camera and a 3D ToF sensor look out for obstacles.

It's rated for 1,200 m² and 45% slopes, with a 220 mm cut and heights from 30 mm to 80 mm set per area in the app. The standout feature is a string trimmer that cuts along edges the blade disc can't reach, which most rivals at this price lack. Ecovacs gives a warranty of 3 years on the robot and two years on the battery.

It connects over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth only, so there's no tracking away from home, and Ecovacs lists a much louder figure for the trimmer than for mowing. It starts from £949.

Not for: steep banks, open featureless lawns, or anyone who wants 4G theft tracking.

Best for bigger lawns under £1,000: Dreame A1 Pro

The Dreame A1 Pro is rated for 2,000 m², the largest figure among our picks here. Like the Ecovacs, it uses 3D LiDAR to position itself, so there's no wire or RTK station. Cutting height from 30 mm to 70 mm is motorised and set from the app or the mower, and the app supports two maps and no-go zones. The cut is 220 mm and the slope limit 45%.

It has no camera, so obstacle detection relies on the LiDAR and a bumper. Dreame's 4G module isn't sold on its UK store, and nor are mower accessories such as blades or a garage. The UK store shows a warranty of 3 years. We'd size it for lawns of roughly 800–1,600 m² rather than the full rating. It was sold out on the UK store at the end of the 2026 season; it starts from £699.

Not for: gardens full of toys and small obstacles, or buyers who want easy access to UK spares.

Best with 4G and theft tracking: Segway Navimow i2 AWD

The Segway Navimow i2 AWD is the pick if security matters. It has 4G built in, which carries its network RTK corrections and powers GPS tracking and alarms for lifting or leaving the mapped area. There's no aerial to mount and no wire to lay. A driven third wheel gives all-wheel drive and a 45% slope rating, and the app handles up to 20 zones.

The i208 is rated for 800 m², with a 180 mm cut and height set by hand. Network RTK needs a clear sky and usable mobile signal across the lawn; Ofcom's coverage checker is a good first step, and our network RTK guide covers the rest. Data is included for 12 months, then remote features need a paid renewal. The warranty is 3 years on the mower. Every version was sold out on Navimow's UK store at the time of writing. The i208 starts from £999.

Not for: gardens under heavy tree cover or with poor mobile signal. The Segway Navimow i2 LiDAR suits those better, at a little over £1,000.

Best from a dealer-backed brand: Husqvarna Automower Aspire R6V

The Husqvarna Automower Aspire R6V gets you into Husqvarna's wire-free range under £1,000. It combines satellite positioning, with corrections sent from Husqvarna's cloud over your home Wi-Fi, and an AI camera that spots obstacles and, Husqvarna says, helps where the signal is weak. It mows in systematic lines.

It's rated for 600 m² and 40% slopes inside the lawn, though only 15% along the boundary. The cut is 220 mm, height is set by hand, and it's rated IPX6. The warranty is 2 years, shorter than the Ecovacs or Navimow, but Husqvarna's UK dealers handle servicing and can fit a Connect Kit if your Wi-Fi falls short. It starts from £999.

Not for: lawns over about 500 m², gardens with weak Wi-Fi at the far end, or buyers who want GPS tracking.

Best wired under £1,000: Honda Miimo HRM 1000

If you'd rather have a wire and a long warranty than the latest navigation, the Honda Miimo HRM 1000 to 4000 range starts under £1,000 with the HRM 1000. Honda's domestic warranty is 5 years, the longest standard cover of any current range we list, though it depends on dealer registration and servicing to Honda's schedule, so budget for an annual service.

The HRM 1000 has a 220 mm cut, a 47% slope rating inside the lawn (17% where the wire runs along a slope), an alarm and a quoted 58 dB(A). It's the basic model: an LED display, Bluetooth-only app, no shortcut wire and contact-only obstacle detection. Honda's manual recommends 800 m² for it, so treat that as the real limit. It starts from £474.

Not for: anyone who wants app control away from home, or who'd rather not pay for dealer servicing.

Buying advice under £1,000

• Choose navigation before brand. Look at your garden: trees and tall buildings favour LiDAR, cameras or wire; open lawns with good mobile signal suit network RTK. Our wire-free hub and wired hub compare the options.
• Check what the price leaves out. Under £1,000, it's common to lose 4G, app-set height or edge cutting. Decide which of those you'd miss.
• Read the warranty conditions, not just the length. Some depend on registration or dealer servicing, and batteries are often covered for less time than the robot.
• Size with headroom. Choose a model rated for at least 20% more than your lawn. Our lawn size tool measures it from a satellite map.
