How it navigates and sets up
The FREELEXO follows a perimeter wire that you lay around the edge of the lawn and around anything it should avoid. Like most wired mowers in this price range, it works inside that boundary and turns when it meets the wire or bumps into an obstacle; Einhell doesn't describe a systematic cutting pattern. Einhell supplies 130 m of wire and 190 pegs, enough for a typical small garden, and says you can set up a second area and several starting points. Einhell rates it for 500 m² and slopes up to 35%. It doesn't publish a mowing time, passage width or drive type. A wired mower's strengths are reliability and price: it isn't affected by trees, buildings, poor light or satellite signal.
Cutting
The cut is 180 mm wide, with three double-edged blades on a spinning disc. Height is set with a central dial from 30 mm to 60 mm. That 30 mm minimum is a little higher than some rivals, which won't matter to most people. There's no claimed edge cutting, so keep a trimmer handy.
App, connectivity and security
The Einhell Connect app connects over Bluetooth nearby and Wi-Fi at home, allowing remote control and overnight firmware updates. There's no cellular link. A PIN lock and rain sensor are fitted. With a wired boundary there's no map to edit, so the app is mainly for schedules and settings.
Running costs, warranty and support
The 45 Wh Power X-Change battery can be swapped with other Einhell 18 V tools, and any PXC battery fits. Can I control the Einhell FREELEXO over Wi-Fi?
Yes. The Einhell FREELEXO connects to the Einhell Connect app over your home Wi-Fi as well as Bluetooth, so you can start, stop and reschedule it without being in the garden. Einhell also uses the Wi-Fi link for over-the-air firmware updates, which it says run overnight.
There's no mobile data connection, so the mower needs a decent Wi-Fi signal where it works and docks, and it can't be tracked by GPS. Einhell mentions no paid service. The app matters more on this model than on some rivals: it has only a simple LED keypad, and Einhell says most schedule settings are changed in the app.
The older Einhell FREELEXO LCD BT is the opposite: a full LCD keypad but Bluetooth only.
How noisy is the Einhell FREELEXO robot mower?
Fairly quiet, although Einhell gives two different figures. The UK product page for the Einhell FREELEXO lists a sound power level of 61 dB(A), which is the figure we show. The FREELEXO 500 manual gives a lower sound power of 56.3 dB(A). Einhell doesn't explain the difference, so the page figure may overstate it.
Either way, it sits within the normal range for a small robot mower and well below a petrol or mains mower. Sound power describes the noise the machine gives off, not what you hear from a distance, so from the house or a neighbour's garden it will seem quieter than the number suggests. A robot also works in shorter, more frequent sessions, so the noise is spread across the week rather than concentrated in one long cut.
When comparing with other brands, check which measure they quote. Some, such as Flymo, publish a "perceived" sound level, which tends to be lower than a sound power figure for the same machine. For reference, Einhell's wire-free Einhell FREELEXO CAM is listed at 57 dB(A) and the older Einhell FREELEXO LCD BT at 59.4 dB(A), both measured sound power.

Yes. It's a wired mower, and Einhell supplies 130 m of wire and 190 pegs, which is also the maximum wire length the manual allows. You can peg the wire on the surface or bury it shallowly.
What's the difference between the FREELEXO and FREELEXO LCD BT?
The FREELEXO is the newer model, with Wi-Fi and over-the-air updates, and it's rated for 500 m². The FREELEXO 1200 LCD BT is an older design with an LCD keypad and Bluetooth-only app, rated for 1,200 m² with a bigger battery.
Can I set up schedules without the app?
Only to a limited extent. The FREELEXO has a simple LED keypad, and Einhell says most schedule settings are changed through the Einhell Connect app.
