Is laying a robot mower perimeter wire difficult?

It isn't technically hard, but it's slow and fiddly. You run a thin cable around the edge of the lawn and around any beds or ponds the mower should avoid, keeping to the distances the manual gives from walls and edges, and connect both ends to the charging station.

The wire can be pegged on the surface, where the grass grows over it within a few weeks, or buried a few centimetres down with a spade or a hired cable-laying machine. Burying it protects it from scarifiers and edging tools. For an average garden, allow most of a day, longer if the shape is complicated.
