Is the Flymo UltraLife a wire-free robot mower?

No. The Flymo UltraLife follows a boundary wire, just like the cheaper Flymo EasiLife. Flymo lists loop wire, pegs and a low-voltage cable among the installation parts in the box.

The confusion comes from the marketing. Flymo describes the UltraLife as "AI-powered", which many buyers read as a sign of camera or satellite navigation. Flymo's UK product pages don't describe a camera, RTK or LiDAR system, though, and the mower detects obstacles by collision sensing unless you add the optional FLY112 radar, which Flymo says spots obstacles without contact.

What the UltraLife does add over the EasiLife is useful, just not wire-free: over-the-air firmware updates, larger rated areas of 600–1,500 m², a rear edge disc on the 800 and above, and support for the GARDENA smart system through a Gateway bought separately. Flymo also mentions LONA mapping via GARDENA, but that doesn't remove the need for the wire.
