How it navigates and sets up
The 315 Mark II uses a perimeter wire, pegged or buried around the edge of the lawn and looped around beds, ponds and trees. It doesn't use satellites at all, so it works the same in a garden hemmed in by trees or buildings. The trade-off is installation: a lawn big enough to need this mower means a long run of wire, and every change to your beds means moving it. Husqvarna rates it for 1,500 m² and slopes up to 40% inside the working area, with a much tighter limit along the wire.
Cutting
It has the same cutting deck as the 305 and 310 Mark II: 3 pivoting razor blades on a disc, a 220 mm cut, and height from 20 mm to 50 mm, set manually. Husqvarna lists 60 min of mowing per charge, so on a lawn near the top of its rating it will be working most days of the week. The quoted sound level is 60 dB(A).
App, connectivity and security
It uses Automower Connect@Home over Bluetooth, which is fine for setting a schedule from the patio but no use when you're away. The optional Connect Kit adds a cellular connection. Security is limited to an alarm and PIN lock with no GPS tracking, which matters more on a pricier mower in a larger, often more open, garden. Our security guide covers extra measures.

The UK consumer warranty is 2 years, including the battery. Husqvarna's dealer network handles servicing, and blades are a small recurring cost; see our running-costs calculator. Does the Automower 315 Mark II need a perimeter wire?
Yes. It is a boundary-wire mower with no satellite positioning. The wire runs around the edge of the lawn and around anything the mower should avoid.
What is the difference between the 315 Mark II and the 415X?
Both are rated for 1,500 m² on a boundary wire. The 415X adds a built-in cellular connection, GPS theft tracking, electric height adjustment and smart-home integration. The 315 Mark II uses a Bluetooth app and manual height adjustment.
Can I add remote control to the 315 Mark II?
Yes. Husqvarna's Automower Connect Kit adds a cellular connection, but it must be fitted by a dealer and is an extra cost.
Is there a wire-free version?
Not of this model. Husqvarna's current wire-free models at a similar size include the 310E NERA wire-free version and the 312V.
