How it navigates and sets up
The 410XE NERA launched in 2024 and is a boundary-wire mower as supplied. You lay a wire around the lawn and any beds or islands, and the mower works inside it. Our installation guide covers what that involves. Husqvarna sells an EPOS Plug-in that converts it to wire-free, using satellite RTK with correction data from Husqvarna's cloud; the EPOS RS1 reference station is needed only where there's no coverage.
Husqvarna lists radar for object detection. In general, radar senses obstacles ahead of the mower rather than relying on bumping into them, which is a step up from basic collision sensing but less capable than the AI camera on its replacement, the Husqvarna Automower 410VE NERA.
Rated area is 1,000 m² and the slope limit is 30% inside the lawn, 20% at the boundary.
Cutting
The cutting system matches the rest of the mid-size NERA line: a main disc with three pivoting razor blades plus the rear EdgeCut disc for closer edges. Width is 220 mm and height adjusts electrically from 20 mm to 55 mm. On a boundary wire it mows in an irregular pattern; systematic mowing needs the EPOS conversion. Husqvarna lists a perceived sound level of 60 dB(A).
App, connectivity and security
Built-in cellular, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth mean Automower Connect works from anywhere with phone signal. You get schedules, stay-out zones and Alexa and Google Home control. GPS tracking, a PIN code and an alarm are standard.
Running costs, warranty and support
The consumer warranty is 2 years, battery included, and Husqvarna's UK dealers can install the wire and service the mower. Budget for boundary wire repairs over the years, and for two sets of blades because of EdgeCut. Current prices start from £1,919.20.
Should you still buy one?
Only at a clear discount, and only if you're content with a boundary wire. If you'd convert it with the EPOS Plug-in, the combined cost moves close to the 410VE NERA, which is wire-free from the start, rated for more lawn and has a camera. The wire-free Husqvarna Automower 310E NERA is also rated for more lawn and has a lower RRP. The 410XE NERA makes most sense for a garden with heavy tree cover, where a wire is more dependable than satellite positioning.
