How it navigates and sets up
The 430X follows a perimeter wire around the lawn and its obstacles. It has no satellite positioning, which makes it reliable under trees and beside buildings, but a large lawn means a long wire run to install and maintain. Our wired vs wire-free guide sets out the trade-offs.
Husqvarna rated it for 3,200 m² and slopes up to 45% inside the working area. It weighs 13 kg.
Cutting
It cuts with 3 pivoting razor blades on a disc, across a 240 mm path. Height adjustment is electric, from 20 mm to 60 mm. Husqvarna lists 145 min of mowing per charge and a sound level of 58 dB(A).
App, connectivity and security
The Automower Connect app connects over the built-in cellular link and Bluetooth, so remote control works anywhere with signal. Husqvarna lists GPS theft tracking, an alarm, a PIN lock and support for Amazon Alexa, Google Home. Weather protection is IPX4.
Running costs, warranty and support
A new 430X carried Husqvarna's 2 years UK consumer warranty; a used one is likely to be out of cover. Should you still buy one?
As a used buy for a lawn that's already wired, it can make sense, as long as the battery is in good shape and the price reflects its age. Ask the seller for its operating hours and battery history, and check that the charging station, power supply and wire connectors come with it. For a new mower, the Husqvarna Automower 430V NERA from £3,799 is wire-free, adds a camera and is rated for a larger lawn. The Husqvarna Automower 320 NERA is a cheaper wire-free Husqvarna for lawns up to its rating.

Automower 430X questions and answers
Is it worth replacing an old Automower 430X with the 430X NERA?
Only if you want to get rid of the boundary wire or your old mower is due a costly repair. The original Husqvarna Automower 430X is discontinued but still a wired mower with built-in cellular and GPS tracking, so it does much of what the Husqvarna Automower 430X NERA does.
On Husqvarna's figures, the main gains are wire-free mowing with the EPOS bundle, a higher rating of 4,800 m² when mowing in lines, Wi-Fi as well as cellular, and a weather rating of IPX5 against IPX4. The NERA model is also rated for 25% slopes along the boundary, where the old 430X was rated for 15%. Husqvarna does quote a longer run time per charge for the old model.
Since Husqvarna now names the 430V NERA as the 430X NERA's replacement, compare both before upgrading.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Automower 430X discontinued?
Yes. Husqvarna UK lists it only on a support page marked discontinued. Its NERA-generation replacement was the 430X NERA, which Husqvarna now says is being replaced by the 430V NERA.
Can the 430X go wire-free?
Husqvarna doesn't list the EPOS wire-free upgrade for this pre-NERA model. If you want wire-free mowing, look at the 430X NERA with wire free technology or the 430V NERA.
What's the difference between the 430X and the 430X NERA?
The 430X NERA is rated for more area when used wire-free, has IPX5 rather than IPX4 weather protection, and can use Husqvarna's EPOS satellite navigation. Both share a 240 mm cut and 20 to 60 mm height range.
Does the 430X have GPS tracking?
Yes. It has a built-in cellular connection and GPS theft tracking, along with an alarm and PIN lock.
