Husqvarna Automower 430X NERA

Husqvarna lists a perceived sound level of 56 dB(A) for the Husqvarna Automower 430X NERA, one of the lowest figures in its NERA range. It doesn't publish declared or guaranteed noise values on its UK pages, so treat the number as a guide rather than a lab measurement.

It can be scheduled for any hours in the Automower Connect app, but night mowing isn't a good idea. Hedgehogs and other wildlife are active after dark, and Husqvarna doesn't claim that the radar on this model will detect a small animal curled up in long grass. A daytime schedule avoids the risk and still gives a large lawn plenty of mowing hours. Our hedgehog and wildlife guide suggests safer schedules.

For most buyers the 430V NERA is the better choice unless a dealer offers the 430X NERA bundle at a clear discount. Husqvarna's 2026 announcement names the Husqvarna Automower 430V NERA as the replacement for the Husqvarna Automower 430X NERA, so what's left of the older model is run-out stock.

On paper the two are close. Both are rated for 4,800 m² wire-free, cut a 240 mm strip, handle slopes up to 50% inside the lawn, have built-in cellular and GPS tracking, and share a perceived sound level of 56 dB(A).

The differences are in how they see and how they're sold:

• Obstacles: the 430X NERA detects objects with radar. The 430V NERA has an AI camera with infrared, which Husqvarna says also helps it keep mowing where satellite signal is weak.
• Wire-free set-up: the 430X NERA only goes wire-free as a dealer bundle with the EPOS Plug-in. The 430V NERA is wire-free as standard.
• Wire backup: Husqvarna's spec table lists physical wire as well as virtual boundaries for the 430X NERA bundle, which could suit a heavily wooded boundary.

Compare what you're actually quoted. The 430X NERA bundle's RRP is £3,698, and current prices start from £3,299; the 430V NERA currently starts from £3,799. If the gap is small, the newer design makes more sense. Both carry the same 2 years consumer warranty.

Yes, within limits. Husqvarna rates the Husqvarna Automower 430X NERA for slopes up to 50% inside the working area, which is about 27 degrees. Along the boundary the limit falls to 25%, because a mower turning on a steep edge can slide off the lawn.

So a lawn with a steep bank in the middle is usually fine, but one that drops away sharply at its edges may need the boundary set back from the slope. Wet grass reduces grip on any mower, so leave some margin below the rated figure.

Only if you want to get rid of the boundary wire or your old mower is due a costly repair. The original Husqvarna Automower 430X is discontinued but still a wired mower with built-in cellular and GPS tracking, so it does much of what the Husqvarna Automower 430X NERA does.

On Husqvarna's figures, the main gains are wire-free mowing with the EPOS bundle, a higher rating of 4,800 m² when mowing in lines, Wi-Fi as well as cellular, and a weather rating of IPX5 against IPX4. The NERA model is also rated for 25% slopes along the boundary, where the old 430X was rated for 15%. Husqvarna does quote a longer run time per charge for the old model.

Since Husqvarna now names the 430V NERA as the 430X NERA's replacement, compare both before upgrading.

It depends which version you're offered. The Husqvarna Automower 430X NERA has been sold in two forms under one name, and only one of them works without a wire out of the box.

The version Husqvarna UK still lists is the "with wire free technology" bundle. It pairs the mower with Husqvarna's EPOS Plug-in, which lets it follow virtual boundaries drawn in the app using satellite RTK. The correction data comes from Husqvarna's cloud over the mower's built-in cellular or Wi-Fi connection, so no reference station is needed where there's coverage. Husqvarna rates the bundle for 4,800 m² when it mows in systematic lines.

The plain 430X NERA, supplied for a boundary wire, is now marked discontinued. It was rated for 3,200 m², because on a wire it mows in an irregular pattern. If you find one as run-out or second-hand stock, plan on laying a wire. Husqvarna UK doesn't list a separate plug-in for it, so ask a dealer before assuming you can upgrade it later.

One useful quirk: Husqvarna's spec table lists both virtual and physical wire for the bundle. That means a wire can be used on stretches where the satellite view is blocked, such as a boundary under mature trees, while the open parts of the lawn run on virtual boundaries.
