How it navigates and sets up
The 435X AWD NERA is sold in the UK only in its "with wire free technology" form. It uses Husqvarna's EPOS system: satellite RTK positioning with correction data delivered from Husqvarna's cloud over the mower's cellular connection. Where coverage reaches the whole lawn, you don't need your own reference station; where it doesn't, the EPOS RS1 station is the fallback. Check mobile coverage across the whole lawn before buying; a dealer survey should tell you whether the RS1 is needed. Husqvarna's spec table also lists physical wire as a boundary option. There's no camera or LiDAR, so in deeply shaded corners it depends on satellite signal alone. Obstacle detection is by ultrasonic sensors.
All-wheel drive gives a 70% rating inside the working area, the highest in Husqvarna's range. Our slopes guide explains what that means in degrees. At 18.1 kg and 930 × 550 × 330, it's a big machine.
Cutting
It cuts with 3 pivoting razor blades across 220 mm, with electric height adjustment from 30 mm to 70 mm. The higher range suits rougher grass on banks. Husqvarna lists 145 min of mowing per charge and a sound level of 60 dB(A).
App, connectivity and security
The Automower Connect app works over the built-in cellular link and Bluetooth; Husqvarna doesn't list Wi-Fi. Virtual boundaries and stay-out zones are managed in the app, and the mower has GPS theft tracking, an alarm and a PIN lock, plus Amazon Alexa and Google Home support.
Running costs, warranty and support
The UK consumer warranty is 2 years, battery included. Buying through a dealer usually means installation and servicing are local. Current prices start from £4,769.10. For far less money, the Mammotion LUBA 3 AWD and Segway Navimow X4 Series offer AWD with higher slope ratings, though without Husqvarna's dealer network.

Does the 435X AWD NERA need a boundary wire?
No. The UK version is sold with EPOS wire-free technology, which uses satellite RTK with correction data from Husqvarna's cloud. It can still run on a physical wire if needed, and an EPOS RS1 reference station is available where mobile coverage is poor.
How steep a slope can it handle?
Husqvarna rates it for 70% (about 35 degrees) inside the working area and 50% along the boundary. All-wheel drive is the reason. Wet grass reduces grip on any mower, so leave some margin.
Can I buy the 435X AWD NERA online?
At the time of writing, Husqvarna UK lists it for dealer purchase rather than direct online sale. Dealers typically handle installation.
Is there a subscription?
Husqvarna says the RTK correction data from its cloud comes at no extra cost, and the app is free. Its UK pages don't mention a data fee for the built-in cellular connection.
