Which version do you need?
Choose by lawn size and by navigation. The 1500 is rated for 1,500 m² but relies on LiDAR and cameras only, with no network RTK, and Mammotion's own spec sheet gives it much less area per charge. The 3000 and 5000 add network RTK over 4G and bigger batteries. If your lawn is over about 1,200 m², or has open areas far from buildings where LiDAR has little to see, go for the 3000 at least.
How it navigates and sets up
The LUBA 3 AWD is wire-free. On the 3000 and 5000, Mammotion combines three sources of position: network RTK corrections received over the mower's built-in 4G connection, a 360° LiDAR scanner and a pair of cameras. Network RTK gives centimetre-level positioning in open areas without the base station older LUBAs needed, while LiDAR and the cameras keep it on track near trees, walls and houses, where satellite signals are weakest. You map the lawn by driving the mower around its edge in the app.
The 1500 is different: it has no network RTK and navigates with LiDAR and cameras alone. That works well in gardens with plenty of fixed features to see, but it is a lower-spec machine than the name suggests (see "Claims vs reality" above).
Mammotion rates the LUBA 3 for up to 80% slopes and says it can pass through gaps of 70 cm. All-wheel drive is the reason the slope rating is so high. For what those percentages mean in degrees, see our guide to robot mowers on slopes.
Cutting
The cutting width is 400 mm, wide for a robot mower, which helps it cover big lawns in fewer passes. Cutting height is set in the app from 25 mm to 70 mm. Mammotion quotes a noise level of 70 dB(A), which is on the loud side for this type of mower, so check your schedule works for you and your neighbours.
App, connectivity and security
Everything runs through the Mammotion app. It manages up to 15–50 zones depending on the version. The 4G connection comes with 36 months of data included, and lets you see and control the mower away from home and track it by GPS if it's stolen.
Running costs, warranty and support

Does the LUBA 3 AWD need a perimeter wire or base station?
No. The 3000 and 5000 combine network RTK corrections received over the built-in 4G connection with LiDAR and cameras, so there's nothing to bury or mount. The 1500 uses LiDAR and cameras only. An RTK base station is sold separately if your 4G signal is poor.
How steep a slope can the LUBA 3 AWD handle?
Mammotion rates it for slopes up to 80%, which is about 39 degrees. That's among the highest ratings of any consumer robot mower, helped by all-wheel drive. Wet grass reduces grip on any mower, so leave some margin.
Is there a subscription?
Mammotion says no subscription is needed to mow. Three years of 4G data are included; after that 4G is optional, and Mammotion states the network RTK service itself is free.
Which LUBA 3 AWD size do I need?
Pick a rated area at least 20% bigger than your lawn so the mower isn't running flat out. Because the 1500 covers much less per charge and lacks network RTK, lawns over about 1,200 m² are better served by the 3000.
