Which version do you need?
The three UK versions (3000X, 5000X and 10000X) share the same body, deck and navigation. They differ in rated area, battery run time, zone count and a little weight. Pick a rated area comfortably above your lawn size. The 10000X is the only way to get this platform's rated area above 5,000 m².
How it navigates and sets up
The LUBA 2 AWD is wire-free. It positions itself with RTK satellite corrections, either from the base station that ships in the box or from Mammotion's network RTK service over the built-in 4G connection, and uses cameras for obstacle detection. You map the lawn by driving it around the edge in the app.
What it lacks, compared with the Mammotion LUBA 3 AWD, is LiDAR. RTK needs an open view of the sky, so lawns hemmed in by tall trees or houses can give it trouble; the LUBA 3 uses LiDAR to hold its position in those spots. Our navigation guide explains the difference.
All-wheel drive gives it an 80% slope rating, and Mammotion says it can climb obstacles up to 50 mm high.
Cutting
Two discs with pivoting razor blades give a 400 mm cut, the same as the LUBA 3. Height is set in the app from 25 mm to 70 mm, and Mammotion claims it can ride along edges for a close finish. Mammotion doesn't publish a noise figure for this model.
App, connectivity and security
The Mammotion app handles zones (up to 30–100 depending on version), no-go areas and schedules. The built-in 4G connection comes with 12 months of data, which covers remote control, the live camera view and GPS tracking with geofence alerts. Mammotion also includes a slot for an AirTag.
Running costs, warranty and support
The warranty is 3 years. After the included 4G data runs out, you can pay for more or rely on the included base station for positioning. Mammotion offers support by email, chat and phone, with no UK dealer network.
Should you still buy one?
Only at a clear discount. The Mammotion LUBA 3 AWD costs from £1,999 and adds LiDAR, more 4G data and a published noise figure. The LUBA 2 AWD's RRP was £2,399–£4,099; if you find one well below the LUBA 3, it is still a strong mower for open, sloping lawns, and the 10000X remains the only very-large option in this family. Check that the seller is authorised, so the three-year warranty applies.

Is the LUBA 2 AWD discontinued?
Not officially. It still appears in Mammotion's UK menu, but every version was sold out and the page points to newer models. The LUBA 3 AWD is its effective replacement.
LUBA 2 AWD or LUBA 3 AWD?
The LUBA 3 AWD adds a 360° LiDAR scanner alongside RTK and cameras, three years of 4G data instead of one, and a published noise figure. The LUBA 2 AWD offers a larger 10,000 m² version and an RTK base in the box. Unless you find a LUBA 2 at a real discount, the LUBA 3 is the better buy.
Does the LUBA 2 AWD need a base station?
It comes with one, but Mammotion says it can also work from network RTK over 4G without the base. Using the base avoids depending on mobile signal.
How steep a slope can it handle?
Mammotion rates it for 80%, about 39 degrees, helped by all-wheel drive. That's among the highest ratings of any consumer robot mower.
