Mammotion YUKA vs LUBA 2 AWD: which older Mammotion to buy?

Who each one is for

Both are previous-generation Mammotion mowers that navigate with RTK and cameras, come with an RTK base station and can also use network RTK over 4G. Neither has a wire, and neither has LiDAR. Where they part company is the kind of lawn they suit.

The Mammotion LUBA 2 AWD is built for big, steep gardens: all-wheel drive, a wide cut and rated areas up to 10,000 m².

The Mammotion YUKA is a two-wheel-drive mower for flatter lawns. Its selling points are a very high maximum cutting height and an optional sweeper kit that picks up leaves and clippings.

Because neither is sold new by Mammotion UK, this comparison is mainly for buyers looking at remaining or used stock.

Navigation

On paper they navigate the same way: RTK corrections from the base station in the box or from network RTK over 4G, with cameras for obstacles. Both work best on lawns with an open view of the sky, and both can lose accuracy under tall trees or beside buildings, where the current Mammotion LUBA 3 AWD uses LiDAR. Slopes: the deciding factor

The LUBA 2 AWD is rated for 80%, about 39 degrees, helped by all-wheel drive. The YUKA is rear-wheel drive and rated for 45%, about 24 degrees, and Mammotion's spec sheet says that figure applies without the sweeper fitted. If your lawn has real banks, this settles it. See our slopes guide.

Lawn size

The LUBA 2 AWD covers 3,000–10,000 m² and the YUKA 1,000–3,000 m². The YUKA's weak point is run time: Mammotion's spec sheet gives the 1000 and 2000 short sessions per charge, so on a bigger lawn look for the 3000.

Cutting and the sweeper

The LUBA 2 AWD cuts 400 mm wide from two discs, with height from 25 mm to 70 mm. The YUKA cuts 320 mm wide, with a wider height range from 20 mm to 90 mm, which suits owners who keep a longer lawn.

The YUKA's optional sweeper collects leaves and clippings and empties itself at the dock. It was sold separately, adds brushes and bags to maintain, and lowers what the mower can climb. On a flat lawn under deciduous trees, it's the one feature the LUBA 2 can't match.

4G, subscription and noise

Both have 4G built in with 12 months of data from new, and Mammotion says no subscription is needed to mow. On a used mower, assume the included data has run out; both can keep positioning from their base station without it. Mammotion doesn't publish a noise figure for either model.

Weight, warranty and price

The LUBA 2 AWD weighs 18.6 kg–19.1 kg and the YUKA 16.4 kg–17.2 kg. Both carry Mammotion's 3 years warranty, running from the original purchase date, so ask for proof of purchase on a used unit. RRPs were £2,399–£4,099 for the LUBA 2 AWD and £1,299–£1,899 for the YUKA; the price table above shows any stock we can find.

Verdict

If your lawn slopes, or is over about 3,000 m², the LUBA 2 AWD is the clear pick of the two. If it's flat, you want a tall cut and you have a lot of leaf fall, a YUKA 3000 with the sweeper kit and a working base station is worth considering at a low price.

For most buyers, though, a current model is the better long-term bet. The LUBA 3 AWD (from £1,999) replaces the LUBA 2 with LiDAR and more 4G data, and the Mammotion LUBA mini 2 AWD brings all-wheel drive to medium lawns. Neither current model offers a sweeper.
