How it navigates and sets up
The 435X AWD follows a perimeter wire around the lawn and its obstacles, with no satellite positioning. On steep, awkward ground, laying the wire is harder than on a flat lawn, so dealer installation is worth considering. Cutting
It cuts with 3 pivoting razor blades on a disc across 220 mm, with electric height adjustment from 30 mm to 70 mm. The higher range suits rougher grass on banks. Husqvarna lists 145 min of mowing per charge and a sound level of 60 dB(A).
App, connectivity and security
The Automower Connect app connects over the built-in cellular link and Bluetooth. Husqvarna lists GPS theft tracking, an alarm, a PIN lock and support for Amazon Alexa, Google Home. Weather protection is IPX4.
Running costs, warranty and support
When new, it came with Husqvarna's 2 years UK consumer warranty; used units are likely out of cover. AWD drivetrains have more moving parts than two-wheel-drive mowers, so ask for service history and check with a Husqvarna dealer that parts and batteries are still available. The Husqvarna Automower 435X AWD NERA keeps the AWD platform, drops the wire and is rated for a larger lawn, but costs from £4,769.10. For much less, the Segway Navimow X4 Series and Mammotion LUBA 2 AWD offer wire-free AWD with higher slope ratings, though without Husqvarna's dealer network.
