Stihl iMOW EVO (3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 EVO)

How it navigates and sets up

Like the standard iMOW, every EVO runs inside a perimeter wire, with guide wires leading it home and through narrow sections down to 55 cm wide. The satellite receiver is for security, not navigation. Stihl says the app's guided set-up makes self-installation possible, with dealer fitting optional; the wire kit was sold separately. Rated areas are 500–5,000 m², based on simple, gently sloping lawns. The standard slope limit is 45%, and Stihl offered traction wheels for the 5, 6 and 7 EVO to go further. Ultrasonic sensors slow the mower before a bump sensor registers contact, and anything lower than 10 cm has to be wired out.

Cutting

The cutting disc carries three free-swinging blades and alternates its direction of rotation. Cut width is 200 mm on the 3 and 4 EVO and 280 mm on the 5, 6 and 7 EVO, with height set in the app from 20 mm to 60 mm. Stihl quotes guaranteed sound power of 58 dB(A)–61 dB(A) and run times of 65 min–230 min per charge where it publishes them.

App, connectivity and security

The MY iMOW app connects over Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and the built-in mobile link, so you can check and control the mower away from home. Stihl UK says iMOW links with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, Google Home. Security includes an alarm, a PIN, GPS alerts when the mower leaves its home area and, on the EVO models, the mower locking itself if it's moved outside that area. Running costs, warranty and support

Stihl GB gives iMOW a warranty of 5 years, provided the mower is registered and serviced every year by a dealer. Security updates are promised for at least 24 months after purchase. The unknown is mobile data: Stihl doesn't say how long it's included. Use our running-costs calculator for blades and electricity.

Should you still buy one?

Only if a dealer offers a new unit at a clear discount and confirms, in writing, the warranty registration, annual servicing and what happens to the mobile data. Stihl's last-known UK RRPs, now archived, were £1,399–£3,779, which was already a premium for a wired mower. Check that blades and an installation kit are available locally too.

If you want a connected mower on a wire with dealer backing, the Live versions of the Honda Miimo HRM 1000 to 4000 are the closest match and keep a five-year warranty. For wire-free alternatives with mobile data and UK dealers, look at the Husqvarna Automower 430V NERA for large lawns, the STIGA A v range (A 6v to A 25v) or the Kress Mission RTKn.
