How it navigates and sets up
The A1 was Dreame's first robot mower and one of the earliest LiDAR-only models. A 3D LiDAR scanner maps the garden's fixed features and positions the mower against them, so there's no boundary wire and no RTK station. Its manual says GNSS and 4G only work with the optional Link module fitted, so as supplied it doesn't use satellites at all.
Dreame rated it for 2,000 m² and slopes up to 45%. LiDAR copes well with trees and buildings, which trouble RTK mowers, but needs something to measure against, so wide open lawns are less suitable. See our navigation guide.
Cutting
The cut is 220 mm wide with 3 pivoting razor blades on a disc (quick-release). Height runs from 30 mm to 70 mm. The manual declares a sound power of 64 dB(A). The battery is 90 Wh and takes about 65 min to charge.
App, connectivity and security
The A1 uses the Dreamehome app for mapping, zones and schedules, connecting over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Remote access over 4G and GPS location need the Link module, which Dreame's UK store doesn't sell.
Running costs, warranty and support
Dreame doesn't publish a UK warranty length for the A1. Any remaining cover runs from the original purchase date, so a second-hand unit may have little or none. Blades are cheap consumables, but with no UK Dreame source for them, check supply before buying; our blade guide explains what to look for.
Should you still buy one?
Only second-hand, at a price that reflects the lack of UK parts and warranty. The A1 Pro is very close in specification, is still listed on Dreame's UK store, and has a three-year warranty shown there. If a used A1 is priced close to a new A1 Pro, or to a current LiDAR mower from a brand with UK parts supply, the newer model is the better buy.

A1 questions and answers
Does the Dreame A1 need the Link module to work?
No. The Dreame A1 maps and mows using its 3D LiDAR alone, and it connects to the Dreamehome app over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Mowing, schedules, zones and map editing all work without the module.
The Link module is an optional add-on. According to the A1's manual, it's needed for two things: mobile (4G) data, so you can reach the mower when it's out of Wi-Fi range, and satellite positioning, which the A1 doesn't use at all without it. In Europe, Dreame sold the module with a period of 4G service included; its UK store doesn't sell it, so UK owners would need to source one from Dreame's European stores.

Is a second-hand Dreame A1 worth buying?
Only at a low price. The Dreame A1 is no longer sold in the UK, and Dreame's UK store has no product page for it, though it still hosts the manual. On paper it's close to its replacement, the Dreame A1 Pro: the same 2,000 m² rating, 45% slope limit and LiDAR navigation with no wire or RTK station.
The drawbacks are support and parts. Dreame doesn't publish a UK warranty length for the A1, any cover runs from the original purchase, and Dreame's UK store sells no blades or other mower spares. Before buying, check the battery holds a charge through a full run, ask for the charging station and power supply, and make sure the seller removes it from their Dreamehome account so you can pair it to yours.

Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between the Dreame A1 and A1 Pro?
Very little on paper: the same body size, 220 mm cut, 30–70 mm height range, 45% slope rating and 2,000 m² rating. The A1 Pro is the one currently sold in the UK and carries a three-year warranty badge on the UK store.
Can I still get blades for the Dreame A1?
Not from Dreame's UK store, which sells no mower accessories. Dreame's European stores sell blade packs, so you may need to order from there or from a third-party seller.
Does the A1 need a subscription?
Dreame doesn't publish subscription details for the A1. It mows over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth; 4G and GNSS need the optional Link module, and Dreame sold 4G service with that module in Europe.
