The best budget robot lawn mowers

How we chose

Almost any robot mower is cheap if you ignore what it can't do. So we started from a minimum standard and then looked for the lowest prices. Every pick had to:

• Dock and recharge on its own and mow to a schedule. Drop-and-mow models, where you carry the mower out, press start and charge the battery indoors, are useful for tiny lawns but aren't a replacement for mowing yourself.
• Be current and sold in the UK, with a published UK RRP or a UK retailer price.
• Cover at least a typical small UK lawn with some headroom, which means a rating of about 400 m² or more.
• Come with at least two years of warranty from a brand with a UK route for support.

We then compared what each gives up to reach its price: app features, navigation, slope rating, noise and edge cutting. Our RRP line of roughly £700 is a guide, not a rule; live prices move, and a discounted mid-range mower can be better value than a budget one at full price. We haven't tested any of these mowers.

Best budget robot mower: Worx Landroid M

The Worx Landroid M is our budget pick across the site. It's a conventional boundary-wire mower, which is exactly why it's dependable: once the wire is down, trees, walls, satellites and Wi-Fi dead spots don't matter. It's rated for 500 m² and 35% slopes, with three pivoting razor blades on an offset disc that reaches closer to edges than most at this price.

The Landroid app works over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth with multiple zones, and Worx sells add-on modules for ultrasonic obstacle avoidance. The warranty is 2 years, or 3 years if you register. On the downside, Worx quotes 67 dB(A), the height dial has only four positions, and Worx's Find My Landroid 4G module wasn't on its UK store when we checked. Prices start from £349.99.

Not for: anyone set against laying a wire, or noise-sensitive neighbours.

Cheapest wired mower with an app: Einhell FREELEXO

The Einhell FREELEXO gets you app control for noticeably less than the Worx. Einhell Connect works over Bluetooth nearby and Wi-Fi at home, and firmware updates arrive over the air. The mower runs on a 45 Wh Power X-Change battery, so if you already own Einhell 18 V tools, batteries are interchangeable.

It's rated for 500 m² and 35% slopes, with a 180 mm cut. Einhell supplies wire and pegs for a typical small garden. Height runs from 30 mm to 60 mm on a manual dial, there's no claimed edge cutting, and Einhell doesn't describe a systematic pattern. The warranty rises from 2 years to 3 years with free registration. It starts from £309.98.

Not for: lawns over about 400 m², or buyers who want tidy stripes.

Cheapest wire-free with a dock: LawnMaster OcuMow AMB16

If you want to skip the wire on a tight budget, the LawnMaster OcuMow AMB16 is the cheapest self-docking option we list. It uses a camera and ultrasonic sensors to follow the lawn's edge, so it needs a clear boundary such as paving, gravel or raised edging. The AMB16i-600 is rated for 600 m², adds the OcuMow app over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and has a bigger battery than the keypad-only AMB16-400.

LawnMaster quotes 62 dB(A), it's rated IPX5 and handles 35% slopes. The compromises are a 160 mm cut, no edge cutting, a built-in battery, and no-go areas set with a physical strip rather than in an app. The AMB16i-600 starts from £379.99.

Not for: lawns that merge into planted borders, or anyone who wants map-based zones.

Cheapest wire-free with app mapping: Ecovacs GOAT O600 RTK

The Ecovacs GOAT O RTK (O600 RTK / O800 RTK) is the cheapest way we can see to get a mapped, wire-free mower that cuts in straight lines and lets you set heights per area in the app. The O600 RTK comes with its RTK station, which you mount and power somewhere with an open view of the sky. It's rated for 600 m² and 45% slopes, with a 190 mm cut, height from 30 mm to 80 mm and an AI camera for obstacles. The warranty is 3 years, which is generous at this price.

RTK has a known weakness in UK gardens: tall trees and nearby buildings block the sky. There's also no 4G, so no tracking away from home, and Ecovacs says it leaves a strip uncut along walls and fences it can't drive over. Both GOAT O RTK models were out of stock on Ecovacs UK at the end of the 2026 season. The O600 starts from £449.

Not for: heavily shaded gardens, or anyone who doesn't want to site an RTK station.

Budget pick for bigger lawns: Kress Mission 1500

Budget mowers are mostly small. The Kress Mission range is the exception, with wired models at RRPs well below most mowers of similar size. Kress names them by a 72-hour maximum area; its recommended figure for the Mission 1500 is 1,000 m², which is the number to size against. The 1500 has a 220 mm cut, Kress's side-trim system for edges, 35% slopes and a quoted 61 dB(A).

The catch is how it's sold: Kress sells and installs through dealers only, so budget for installation. The standard 1500 detects obstacles by bumping into them (the OAS version adds ultrasonic avoidance), height is set by a knob, and there's no 4G. Every Mission model was shown at half price on Kress's UK site on 29 September 2026; Kress hasn't said whether that's a promotion or a clearance. The 1500 starts from RRP £649.

Not for: DIY buyers who want to order online and install it themselves.

Cheapest if you can find one: Parkside 20V Robot Lawnmower

Lidl's Parkside (Lidl) Parkside 20V Robot Lawnmower (PMRA 20-Li) is by far the lowest-priced self-docking robot mower we list. On paper it's surprisingly capable: rated for 500 m², with a 47% slope rating, a rain sensor, a PIN lock and a Lidl guarantee of 3 years.

The trade-offs are availability and convenience. It's only sold in Lidl's occasional drops, usually in spring. There's no app; you set it up on the mower's display. Lidl quotes 45 min of mowing per charge, so it spends more time charging than cutting, and slopes near the wire must be under 10%. Passages between wires need to be 120 cm wide. Support goes through Lidl Customer Care, and spares may be harder to find between drops. Its last listed price was RRP £149.99; our Aldi and Lidl page tracks when it might return.

Not for: anyone who needs a mower now, or wants app control.

Buying advice on a budget

• Wired is still the cheapest route in. A boundary wire takes an afternoon to lay on a small lawn and costs little. Our installation guide walks through it.
• Cheap wire-free mowers make assumptions about your garden. Camera models need clear edges; RTK models need open sky. If your garden doesn't fit, a wired mower will do a better job for the same money.
• Don't undersize to save money. A mower that's flat out in May leaves you mowing anyway. Choose one rated for at least 20% more than your lawn; our lawn size tool helps you measure.
• Count the running costs. Blades, a garage and any dealer installation add up. Our cost guide and running-costs calculator show the full picture.
• Watch the end of season. Discounts are common from late summer, but stock runs short. Our deals page tracks price drops.
• Compare against a stretch. Our under £1,000 picks show what an extra few hundred pounds buys, usually a mapped wire-free mower with better obstacle detection.
