How it navigates and sets up
Like the 305, the 310 Mark II is guided by a perimeter wire around the edge of the lawn and around beds, ponds and anything else it should avoid. You can install the wire yourself or pay a Husqvarna dealer; our installation guide explains the work. Because it doesn't rely on satellites, it behaves the same under trees and next to tall walls, which is a real advantage over RTK models in shaded gardens.

Cutting
The cutting system is 3 pivoting razor blades on a disc, across 220 mm. Height runs from 20 mm to 50 mm and is adjusted manually. Husqvarna lists 60 min of mowing per charge and the same again to recharge, so on a larger lawn it spends a good part of the day in the charging station. That's normal for this class and doesn't affect the finish.
App, connectivity and security
Control is through Automower Connect@Home over Bluetooth. You can set schedules and check its status from the garden, but not from work or on holiday unless a dealer fits the optional Connect Kit. There's an alarm and PIN lock, but no GPS tracking if it's stolen.
Running costs, warranty and support
The UK consumer warranty is 2 years, battery included. Husqvarna's dealer network is a strength for servicing and spare parts. Is the Automower 310E NERA worth the extra over the Automower 310 Mark II?
It is if you want to avoid a boundary wire or value neater edges and app control. If you're happy with a wire and your lawn is simple, the Husqvarna Automower 310 Mark II does the basic job for less.
The 310 Mark II is a boundary-wire mower rated for 1,000 m². It is light, quoted as quiet, and because it doesn't depend on satellites it behaves the same under trees and beside tall walls. Its app connects over Bluetooth only unless a dealer fits a Connect Kit, height is set by hand, and it is now run-out stock.
The Husqvarna Automower 310E NERA comes as two products. The newer wire-free version uses cloud RTK over Wi-Fi and is rated for up to 1,500 m² with systematic mowing. The earlier version is supplied for a boundary wire. Both have the rear EdgeCut disc, electric height adjustment from the app, and Wi-Fi as well as Bluetooth.
There is one area where the older mower wins on paper. Husqvarna rates the 310 Mark II for 40% inside the lawn, against 30% for the 310E NERA.
The 310 Mark II is on sale from £699 and the 310E NERA from £1,949. For a shaded garden with steep sections, the wired Mark II is the safer choice. Is the Automower 310 Mark II wire-free?
No. It follows a perimeter wire laid around the lawn and around obstacles. Husqvarna's wire-free equivalent at a similar size is the 310E NERA, which uses satellite RTK instead.
What's the difference between the 310 Mark II and the 305?
Husqvarna's spec sheets show the same cutting width, height range, blades, weight and mowing time per charge. The 310 Mark II is rated for 1,000 m² against 600 m² for the 305, so it suits a larger lawn.
Can I use the 310 Mark II away from home?
Not out of the box. The Automower Connect@Home app uses Bluetooth, so you need to be close to the mower. A dealer-fitted Connect Kit adds a cellular connection for remote control.
How loud is the Automower 310 Mark II?
Husqvarna quotes a perceived sound level of 59 dB(A), which is quiet for a robot mower. It doesn't publish separate declared or guaranteed noise figures on its UK pages.
